This module contains best practice in infection prevention and control in home health and hospice settings.
Objectives: - Identify limitations of infection prevention
best practices in the home health environment (Examples – preparing meds in the
home, IV access care, catheters) - Discuss foundational infection control
strategies and their applications in the home health/hospice setting (e.g. hand
hygiene, standard precautions, isolation, safe storage of sharps, antimicrobial
stewardship ) - Explore different aspects of care offered in
the home care setting (peds, hospice, infusion therapy, specimen collection)
and - Recall strategies for providing patient and
family infection prevention education in the home environment - List the components of a comprehensive
infection control program plan for home care
