Course Overview
The Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center’s, Antimicrobial Stewardship in Dental Facilities, equips healthcare professionals with strategies to improve antibiotic use in outpatient dental settings. This course reviews prescribing trends, identifies risks linked to overprescribing, and introduces key components of successful dental antimicrobial stewardship programs. Participants will learn how to overcome implementation barriers, measure program impact, and engage patients through targeted education and communication.
Target Audience
Target audience for this course are healthcare professionals who are or will be directly involved in infection prevention activities in their facilities. These are infection prevention professionals who have participated in and gained considerable knowledge through specialized infection and control training and have minimal to moderate practice or fieldwork experience with infection prevention and control concepts.
