Course Overview
The Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center’s course on Antimicrobial Stewardship in Intensive Care Units provides an overview of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs, specifically in critical care settings. The course will review topics such as risk of antibiotic use in critically ill patients, barriers to antimicrobial stewardship and how to determine the success of an AMS program.
Target Audience
Target audience for this course are healthcare and infection prevention professionals who are or will be working in critical care settings. These are individuals who have participated in and gained considerable knowledge through specialized infection control training and have moderate to intermediate practice or fieldwork experience with infection prevention and control concepts.
