Course Overview 

The Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center’s, Infection Prevention Standards: Regulatory Readiness Nov 2024, provides infection prevention professionals with the knowledge and strategies needed to ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards. This course explores regulatory frameworks, accreditation requirements, risk assessment utilization, and the latest updates to infection control standards. Participants will also learn how to collect and disseminate meaningful data to drive program improvement.

Target Audience

Target audience for this course are healthcare professionals who are or will be directly involved in infection prevention activities in their facilities. These are infection prevention professionals who have participated in and gained considerable knowledge through specialized infection and control training and have minimal to moderate practice or fieldwork experience with infection prevention and control concepts.

• Describe strategies to achieve program readiness

• Apply strategies to collect meaningful data and disseminate summaries of actions and results

• Identify commonly scored findings for 2024

• Define the updates to the July 2024 IC standards

• Describe when and how to use a risk assessment

• Identify prioritization strategies to ensure compliance with standards

• Describe the difference between regulations, standards, guidelines, best practices, and standards of care
