Course Overview
The Virginia Infection Prevention Training Center’s course on Infection Prevention and Control Strategies in Long-Term Care Settings is designed to provide an overview of infection prevention strategies for congregate care facilities. Topics in Part 2 include assessing risk, potential barriers to infection prevention efforts, screening and vaccinating staff, hand hygiene monitoring, antimicrobial stewardship, standard and transmission-based precautions, environmental cleaning and disinfection, and water management.
Target Audience
Target audience for this course are healthcare professionals who are or will be directly involved in infection prevention activities in their facilities. These are infection prevention professionals who have participated in and gained considerable knowledge through specialized infection and control training and have minimal to moderate practice or fieldwork experience with infection prevention and control concepts.
