Participants will be offered tips and tricks on how to construct the candidate section [background, career goals/objectives, career development/training, and mentoring plan/team] for a K award while exploring its intersection with the research strategy. In addition, participants are provided strategies for mentor and collaborator letters, organizing information, and understanding relationships between/among goals, objectives, activities, mentors, and specific aims.

Learning Outcomes for this seminar are:

Examine the relationship between goals, objectives, activities, mentors, and specific aims
Organize a career development and training plan and its associated timeline with your goals
Name the components of the candidate background section
Differentiate training plan to address research plan challenges and training deficits
Review importance of mentoring team and mentor letter(s)
