Discover, innovate, transform: AI's role in reshaping higher education and research
Artificial intelligence is no longer a future consideration for higher education — it is a present-day force reshaping how we discover knowledge, drive innovation, and prepare the next generation of leaders. In this keynote, Alex Goryachev will explore how universities are uniquely positioned to lead this transformation, not simply adapt to it.
Drawing on real-world examples and Goryachev's experience advising institutions and enterprises worldwide, he will examine how AI is accelerating research and discovery, redefining the relationship between faculty and technology and creating new demands on institutional strategy. He will also address the ethical responsibilities that come with AI adoption and will offer a practical framework for building cultures that are both innovative and accountable.
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of where AI is headed, what it means for higher education specifically and how VCU can move from reactive to intentional in shaping what comes next.
P. Srirama Rao, Ph.D., VCU's vice president for research and innovation, will deliver opening remarks to commence the event.
